I couldn’t let this one slide by. In an interview with CNBC, Florida’s part-time governor Ron DeSastrous said this week that he was ready to “move on” from his high-school level dispute with Disney. Of course he is ready to move on. He has been mocked by both Republicans and Democrats alike for his feud with the Mouse and his campaign is struggling. The trouble began, if you recall, when Disney commented publicly about Ron’s “don’t say gay” law. [More in my previous post here]. Ron and his bootlickers in the legislature retaliated by taking over the special taxing district that has allowed Disney World to self-govern since the 60’s. His actions have led Disney to sue in federal court over government retaliation for protected free speech. So, when asked what he would say to Disney CEO Bob Iger, Ron said he would tell Iger to drop the lawsuit.
This reminds me of some old western movie where two gunslingers are facing off in the street and one of them says, Nobody needs to die here today. Why don’t we both just lower our guns and go our separate ways. Then, the other guy agrees and lowers his gun, only to be shot dead by the first guy who didn’t lower his gun after all. So, of course Ron would like it if Disney dropped their lawsuit so he could move on. But should Disney do that? Hell, no!
I love your writings.
